Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)
TCO stands for “Total Cost of Ownership” and
refers to the overall cost assessment of a company vehicle.
This includes not only the purchase price, but
all costs incurred over the entire period of use.
Depending on the vehicle and usage, the relevance of individual cost drivers
can vary significantly. Factors such as depreciation,
fuel or energy costs, maintenance or
insurance may differ substantially.
Cost components explained
-
(1) Depreciation: Monthly depreciation costs based on a
residual value of 40% after 4 years and 10,000 km per year. The same residual
value is applied to all models for comparability.
-
(2) Maintenance: Monthly costs expected from servicing and
the replacement of wear parts over the vehicle’s lifetime.
-
(3) Taxes & insurance: Based on average values from the
five Swiss cantons with the highest number of registered vehicles.
-
(4) Energy costs: Calculated using manufacturers’ consumption
data and current energy prices for electricity or fossil fuels.
-
(5) Charging infrastructure: Includes the Microlino ICCB
charger (gross price CHF 399.–) as well as average hardware and installation
costs for a basic wallbox charging solution.
-
(6) Parking costs: Based on the expected costs resulting
from parking space requirements, taking vehicle dimensions into account.
