What happens when Swiss diplomacy meets sustainable mobility? That’s exactly what we’re experiencing this summer with SWISS@UNESCO – Diplomacy on Wheels. Switzerland’s new UNESCO Ambassador, Benedikt Wechsler, is embarking on a very special tour – behind the wheel of a Microlino!

A diplomatic mission on four wheels
From 4 to 18 August 2025, Benedikt Wechsler will be driving a Microlino across Switzerland. His route includes some of the country’s most stunning UNESCO World Heritage Sites: the Abbey Library of St. Gallen, the Aletsch Glacier, the vineyards of Lavaux, the castles of Bellinzona – and many more.
But that’s only the beginning: in September, the second part of the journey will take the Microlino from Bern through Neuchâtel and La Chaux-de-Fonds all the way to UNESCO headquarters in Paris. A powerful symbol of how Switzerland actively links culture, sustainability, and diplomacy.
Why this journey matters
This tour is much more than a road trip. It’s a political and cultural statement with a clear message:
Sustainable mobility is possible.
Cultural heritage is alive and present.
Switzerland has far more to offer than just beautiful mountains.
With this journey, Benedikt Wechsler aims to highlight the breadth of Switzerland’s engagement at UNESCO – from visible heritage such as historic cities and natural wonders to intangible treasures and educational initiatives. The tour also supports Switzerland’s candidacy for a seat on the UNESCO World Heritage Committee (2025–2029).
Microlino – a symbol of the future
On this journey, the Microlino is more than just a vehicle – it’s part of the message. Swiss-made, 100% electric, and designed in the iconic bubble-car style, it combines everything modern urban mobility requires: compact dimensions, stylish presence, and zero emissions.
Whether winding through St. Gallen’s old town or crossing alpine passes into Valais, the Microlino proves that climate-friendly driving doesn’t have to be boring. It can be fun – and look good at the same time.

A project with impact
SWISS@UNESCO is a striking example of how politics, technology, and culture can come together. It’s a project that inspires – not only within Switzerland, but also internationally.
Because who says diplomacy has to be dull? Here, it’s being reimagined on wheels – with vision, responsibility, and a smile in the rear-view mirror.
